Greetings, Red Oak Rotarians!

As we enter the new fiscal year, we have a fresh blank slate upon which to record all we will do as a club this year. We spent the last several meetings reviewing the previous year and discussing the official goals we wanted to achieve for the upcoming year to qualify for the Rotary Citation. And I have every faith that we will succeed in meeting those goals.

But Citation goals are not the only way to measure the success of a club. I’m so excited about the ideas and enthusiasm I have seen and heard from club members in the past several weeks! In the next few weeks, we will be starting to implement some new ideas and to discuss other ways we can make an impact in our community. I encourage you to attend meetings, discover what new things are happening in the club, and add your input to the conversation.

One of my objectives this year is to consistently provide club communication to all our members. Informed members are involved members. So, be looking for weekly emails in a bulletin format that will be chock full of news, announcements, pictures, events and other extremely useful Rotary information.

With the new year comes new officers and the opportunity for members to serve on different committees. In this bulletin, you’ll find a list of board members and the committees our club has formed. Each committee plays a vital role in the success of our club! With active, vibrant committees advancing our club goals and ideals, we will grow into an efficient, impactful club. We need each of you to choose which committee you’d like to join. There is a link in this bulletin for you to sign up for one (or more) committee. It is a personal goal of mine to see our club have greater participation in committees. With several people on each committee (instead of one person on several committees), the work becomes much less overwhelming and much more fun.

I’ll close with sharing that this year’s Rotary International theme is “The Magic of Rotary.” Our club is strong and creative and determined to make a difference. Let’s see how we can work together this year to bring the Magic of Rotary to Red Oak.
Respectfully,

Emily H. Martin

2024-2025 Committees
It is encouraged for each Rotarian to become active in a committee. There are several to choose from and each one is vital to the success and sustainability of our club. The committees to choose from include:

1. Cans/Fundraising: without this committee, we would not have the means to fund any of our other projects and events
Needs 3 members (David H. is on this committee, so need 2 more)

2. Diversity/Equity/Inclusion (DEI): help our club reflect the community we serve
    Needs 3 members

3. Marketing/Public Image: coordinate social media posts, electronic sign usage, newspaper/radio ads
Needs 4 members (Kaylin and Curtis are on this committee, so need 2 more)

4. Membership: help with recruitment and retention of members
Needs 6 members (Christopher, Nick & Tim E are on this committee, so need 3 more)

5. Polio: help with the annual chili cook-off and other fundraisers to meet our goal of donating $1,000
Needs 5 members (Liz and Anne are on this committee, so need 3 more)

6. Rotary Foundation Committee: help the club meet its goal of donating $1,800 to the Foundation
Needs 3 members (Rick and Tim E. are on this committee, so need 1 more)

7. Service Projects Committee: determine which community projects the club should work on and implement each one (includes the annual grant process)
Needs 4 members (David H. is on this committee, so need 3 more)

8. Social & Event Committee: help plan and implement events that are NOT fundraisers or service projects
