Greetings, Red Oak Rotarians!
On Tuesday, District Governor Tom Kerfoot visited our club. He spoke about the usual topics you'd expect - membership, public image, Foundation giving, polio. He hit all the talking points. But I noticed his approach to these topics was as a colleague. He was encouraging and positive and he spoke a lot about the options clubs have and different ways they can be successful. And then, he reminded us of the Rotary Action Plan.
The Action Plan is made up of four categories (pillars) into which each of our club goals fit. These four pillars are 1) Increase our Impact, 2) Expand our Reach, 3) Enhance Engagement, and 4) Increase our Ability to Adapt. These pillars allow us to tailor our club to best meet the needs of our community and to reflect the energy of our members. And, they enable our club to stand apart from other clubs.
Over the course of the next few weeks and months, we are going to be discussing changes that will impact our club. I know, I know. Change is scary. It's uncomfortable. But, we have to change. We have to adapt our club to meet the changing needs of our community and of our members. To most effectively do so, we need everyone's involvement. If only a few voices are heard, we can hardly say our club reflects our membership. Attend meetings. Engage with a committee. Think outside of the box and bring new ideas to the table. There is so much possibility and potential out there for our club to really shine!
Respectfully,
Emily H. Martin
